Bloedel Reserve

I am lucky enough to live in Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula near Bloedel Reserve. Things are a little wilder here than in Seattle. The mountains, the sound, the wind, the birds, the deer, all are more palpable here. I am reminded of a quote from the founder of Bloedel, Prentice Bloedel, “Nature can do without man, but man cannot do without nature.”  The gardens at Bloedel are so diverse and uniquely interesting at all times of the year. Most people don’t photograph the house that belonged to Virginia and Prentice Bloedel. The staff that runs the Reserve are in offices on the second floor. The bottom floor is reserved for visitors. The living room is set up the way it was back then. I decided to take pictures inside the house as I waited for students to experience and photograph the gardens. I am including a few of those photographs here.
