About me....

Art is a space within myself where I can retreat from the world and create images, mostly photographic as well as collage/assemblage. I started image making at an early age. I discovered a love of self-portraits when I metaphorically lost the ability to form words and only a click of the camera could say what I wanted to say. I met my friend Danielle Devereaux and we produced a body of work together that I am still proud of.

New work...

In my new botanical work, I am attracted to a plant and take clippings and produce images that immortalize the lushness of the life of a flower as it is dying. Most were photographed in Spring and Summer. A few were taken in Fall and showcase seed pods, dried quince, etc. The diptychs are my version of fashion photography from my photo shoots with models whose spirit and fashion sense I admire. I have many images of the models that I have enjoyed pairing with other photographs of scenes with similar colors, directional line, composition, etc. As Dorothea Lange said "Once you see a pair like this you miss it when one is taken away. It is really only half a sentence." My impression series is taken with my Holga film camera, and is my take on how life was seen in the paintings of the French Impressionists. The documentary series is from Fiddle Tunes, an annual festival at Fort Worden, Port Townsend, WA in the summertime.
